"Life will lead you to many paths, and walk you through many doors. You have to remember that your life is just that, your own. The paths we walk today, lead us through the doors of tomorrow. Our decisions, and actions build the homes our hearts are held. Don't be the jackass of your own story, say no more, do the things you say, and live your life." ~ Tony R.

Disappointment

I've had my fair share of happiness, sadness, anger, and everything in between. Emotions are all over the place-shaping our realities. The beautiful thing is that it's okay to feel the things we feel. Our feelings exist for a purpose, and they're quite normal.

One thing we don't talk too much about is the feeling of disappointment. The biggest feeling of disappointment can be letting yourself down. Its easy to not rely on others, but when you must rely on yourself at all costs, not fulfilling a promise can have devastating results.

When others disappoint us it sucks a whole lot, but when we disappoint ourselves it sucks even more. Letting yourself down often lowers your self-esteem. Sometimes it might seem like the one thing you want to do is the thing that's the hardest to make happen.

Promises and Priorities

Most of us have made many promises in our lives, and it's usually easier to make those promises than it is to fulfill them. When you make a promise, you're creating a mental contract with yourself. When a promise isn't fulfilled, most of us can agree it's one of those feelings that you can rank up there with shitty.

We like to think we know what we're doing, but most of us really have no idea. Life can be full of chaos, and it can bring you many challenges. You promise something to someone, and something happens where you cannot full-fill that promise.

When you make a promise to someone, it's very important that you fulfill that promise. If you can't, just don't make the promise. Life will throw you into a storm full of shit before you know it, and all of those promises you made may just get sucked up with it.

If you've ever fallen into the people-pleasing trap, you may have found yourself promising things to people more than you can keep track of. People sometimes like to fool themselves into thinking that something is more important than others, and those promises can wait.

Do What You Say

An important thing I've learned in life is that it's okay to say no. It doesn't make you any less because you told someone no. It's easier to tell people no now than let them down later. People care a whole lot less when they let downs are fast and quick. You can't please everyone, and you can't do everything under the sun. That's okay because you don't have to. doing what you say matters

The life you build today is the life you'll leave this world with. Your reputation for doing what you say matters. People don't care as much as you think when you don't do the things you never said you were going to do. In fact, people are even more pleased when you do something you didn't say.

Life will lead you to many paths and walk you through many doors. You have to remember that your life is just that, your own. The paths we walk today, lead us through the doors of tomorrow. Our decisions and actions build the homes our hearts are held. Don't be the jackass of your own story, say no more, do the things you say, and live your life.
